Adoptions by appointment only -- Saturday August 8th, 2020
The shelter continues to be closed to the public due to COVID risks. We do make individual appointments for adoptions if you would like to meet a certain dog/cat. Click on the Forms/Applications link in the left column and fill out an adoption application for the animal you are interested in. This is not a binding contract but gives us the information we need to contact you for an appointment. We will contact you by email to set up a time that is convenient for you.

We have changes in our available animals every few days. We have been finding homes for cats and kittens this past week and two of the dogs are in the process of being adopted. There are also rescued animals staying in temporary care until we have space for them in the shelter. The more we can find homes for, the more we can save! Click the "Animals" link on the left column to view all animals.
Volunteer training scheduled -- Wednesday September 13th, 2017
The next volunteer training day has been scheduled for Sept. 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the shelter. PLEASE fill out a volunteer application - located on the Forms/Applications page. Volunteer training -- Friday July 7th, 2017
A volunteer training class has been scheduled for Sunday, July 16 at 1:00 pm at the shelter. The first half of training will be at 1:00 pm and should last about one hour. The second half begins at 2:00 pm and should take about 2 hours. If you have done some of your training, you only need to attend the part you need. If you are just beginning training please be there at 1:00 pm. Bring your friends! Dogs have been moving into the shelter so it is important for everyone to complete volunteer training during this next class. Thank you again for your support. We couldn’t help the number of animals we do without you!

Did you get your email? We sent emails to all volunteers who have completed training. Did you get it? We were hoping to move animals to the shelter next week. To do this we have 28 shifts that need to be filled. Two hour shifts each morning and each evening. BUT WE NEED YOU TO DO THIS! Check your inbox, your spam folder, add us to your safe list, or send us an email. We only received a few replies to our email to see if you were ready to start helping animals. If you have not completed training we will schedule another training soon. If you have not filled out a volunteer application yet click the forms/app link on the left side of this page.

Girl Scouts volunteer at shelter -- Saturday June 10th, 2017
Friends for Life was privileged on Saturday to have Girl Scout Troop 510 come to our Open House to tour and help the shelter. Their project was to make devices used for watering trees and shrubbery. They recycled kitty litter containers w/holes drilled in the bottom, put gravel in them for weight and personalized them with markers. Thanks Troop 510, you are awesome!

We are in the countdown to opening! Still have a few inspections to be done and we can pick a grand opening date!!! We do have some items we still need. Can you help with any of these? A big THANK YOU to The Principles of Advertising class at SWOSU! They recently hosted a fundraiser to benefit Friends For Life. Enough money was raised to purchase a small refrigerator for us to store medical supplies in.

Snip & Stitch begins 2017 -- Tuesday February 7th, 2017
Saturday, February 4, Project Snip & Stitch by Friends for Life held its 1st clinic of 2017. This begins the 4th year of Snipping away at pet overpopulation, one Stitch at a time. There were 31 canines and 16 felines altered, for a total of 47 pets. After only 37 months of operation Snip & Stitch has altered 1,288 pets!
